The Kaohsiung Beer Rock Music Festival 3.0 took place from July 7th to 9th, 2023, at Dream Mall Plaza. After being cancelled for three years due to COVID-19, it returned with even more enthusiasm from all the fans.
This year, the organizers presented an amazing lineup on two stages, featuring Korean Super Star MAMAMOO+,World spectacular star Jessi, as well as Power Station, 831, Crowd Lu, and more than 30 other artists and groups taking turns to perform. They aimed to provide a full dose of music to everyone, making it the grandest beer party of the summer and a way to announce the return of the Kaohsiung Beer Rock Festival!
Kaohsiung, known for having the brightest sun in Taiwan, boasts well-developed harbor and transportation infrastructure. Getting to the venue is easy with the light rail and metro. Even if you come with your family, you can enjoy non-alcoholic beverages like Slurpee, CITY PRIMA, fruit juice bars, as well as ice cream, sausages, hot dogs, and other meals. Even friends who don’t drink alcohol can fully immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.
With over 20 Beer brands such as Budweiser, Heineken, Taiwan Beer, Orion from Okinawa, Suntory, Kirin, Beer Belly Brewing, and more, beer enthusiasts with various tastes can find satisfaction. The event also features occasional Happy Hour promotions, allowing attendees to enjoy beers without spending too much money. The large signboard at the entrance is a popular spot for people to take photos and share on social media platforms.
The festival also invited the top 13 contestants from the Kaohsiung appetizer competition to set up stalls in the festival food court, offering a wide variety of appetizers. Fried squid, fried wontons, pig’s blood cake, Sichuan Spicy Chicken, stinky tofu with century egg, grilled chicken skewers, and miso stewed beef entrails are just a few options to choose from. Well-known hot pot chain “Old Sichuan” and international hotel chain “Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung Central Park” also participated, allowing beer enthusiasts from around the world to try a variety of delicacies.
This time, many dishes have embraced the concept of localization and internationalization by incorporating local ingredients from Kaohsiung. Not only does this enhance the flavors of the dishes, but it also reduces carbon footprint, promoting environmental conservation while enjoying delicious food. We hope that friends from all around the world can taste a wide variety of agricultural and fishery products from Kaohsiung.
For instance, the red-fleshed guava from Yanchao and the Golden Diamond pineapple from Dashu are both stunning and impressive. In the future, we also encourage everyone to visit the participating restaurants when they have the chance, which will elevate the international visibility of these establishments. This time, Pepsi-Cola and Hsiao Chuang Sarsaparilla collaborated with Spider-Man movies and the Diablo video game, bringing interactive games to keep attendees entertained while waiting for stage performances. The Kaohsiung City Government also extended the operating hours of the light rail to ensure everyone can stay until the last moment and then safely return home using public transportation.
We are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the 2024 Kaohsiung Beer Rock Festival 4.0 because we can’t wait to set aside time to attend!
